Market Themes for the Week

Eagle global Markets have compiled a list of market themes for the week which are highlighted below:-

1. U.S. Housing Data

The US Department of commerce will publish on Tuesday a report on building permits and housing starts for October at 1330GMT. Forecast is that building permits dipped to 1.260 million last month by 0.8%, while housing starts are forecast to show a gain of 1.6% to 1.225 million. If housing data continues to print below par, it would paint a worrying picture of the health of the US economy from the housing perspective.

2. U.S. Durable Goods Orders

Durable Goods orders for October will released on Wednesday by 1330GMT.

Envisaged consensus forecast is that orders for durable goods fell by 2.5% last month. Core orders (which exclude volatile transportation items) are forecast to rise 0.4%.

3. Flash Euro Zone PMIs

On Friday, the Euro area IHS Markit’s composite flash Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) is set to be released at 0900GMT on Friday, amid expectations for a slight decline to 53.0.

Ahead of the euro zone PMI’s, France and Germany will release their own PMI reports at 0815GMT and 0830GMT respectively.

The Euro zone is literally surrounded by significant dwindling macrofundamentals from Italy and Brexit. Positive PMI data from these areas could help breathe in fresh bullish sentiment into the EUR.
